I have had my females insist on giving birth on top of my stomach in bed. (fortunately we were able to convince her that laying beside her on the bed was good enough for the remainder of the litter). I have laid on the hard floor for 5 hours while mommy decided the place to have her babies was on a pile of blankets on the floor. When it comes time to deliver......THEY are the boss. Try interrupting that process and it very easily can stop labor.

After the babies arrive, there are sheets, blankets, heat pads, and birthing cages to protect the babies from harm. Not to mention, formula, syringes, bottles, and scales for weighing to making sure all babies are doing well.

Midnight feedings to help with big litters....2am....4am....6am....for more than a week. Dazed and sleep deprived.....each one has to be cared for.

Then comes the weaning process.....messy, soft food. They walk in it, play in it, track it all over the floor. They wear half of it on their faces, and you only hope they have gotten enough in their stomach.

Then the litter box training......they want to eat the litter, play in the litter, sleep in the litter box......everything but do their business in the litter!!! What a mess!!

Not too mention the daily piles of laundry from soiled blankets and towels.

Bath time consists of wiggly, slippery little bodies to wash, ears to clean, nails to trim.....with a litter of six....that's twelve ears...

and 60 tiny nails to clip every week.
